Opening of the exhibition "Man in the Landscape - Invisible and Omnipresent" by Anastasiya Nesterova

21st of May 2026

The guests of the vernissage were already enthusiastically looking at the multitude of works by Anastasiya Nesterova at the get-together and were all the more depressed the more the artist talked about herself, her childhood and youth, her studies in Odessa and her choice to expand her already existing knowledge and skills in Münster to include the field of printmaking. In addition, many scholarships at various academies in different countries were added. This long path led to an impressive breadth in her work, both in painting with oil and in her special discipline, woodcuts. Her motifs, captured in oil while painting in nature, in the style of the Impressionists, are greatly reduced in their lines and picture surfaces in the studio via the elaborate process of wood printing. And yet they clearly show the landscape in which man has left clear traces of his presence. Anastasiya Nesterova is concerned with the depiction of the real, the visible at the moment of capture, not with criticism or embellishment. As a result, all her works radiate a great calmness and take the viewer on a wonderful journey to all the places that impressed Anastasiya Nesterova so much that she wanted to capture the moment of seeing for eternity.
Chris Gall, a well-known jazz pianist and composer, reflected Anastasiya Nesterova's imagery into the world of music. With pieces from his latest solo album "Impressionists improvised", in which he reinterprets works by well-known impressionist composers such as Debussy, Satie, Ravel and changes them with his own compositions, he completed the guests' enjoyment of art into a harmonious whole. Deeply moved and pleasantly inspired, the guests followed the concert and let the artist's imagery work its magic on them.
