The new exhibition "Turning Points – Light and Stone" by Thomas Lucker was received with great enthusiasm by the public at its opening. It is the unusual, the never-before-seen that attracted the guests. In this wonderful setting, two exceptional musicians with Europe-wide concert experience on the very big stages presented their special classical pieces arranged on their instruments. Ben Goldscheider, English horn player, has already premiered 50 new works for horn, presented across genres and in many different formats. This took him beyond Europe to Tokyo in 2025 and to joint performances with the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra. Parallel to his concerts with well-known European orchestras, he holds a professorship at the Royal Conservatory in Antwerp.
He was accompanied at the Stadtstadel by Richard Uttley, an outstanding worldwide known concert pianist who is also a professor at the Royal College of Music, the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama at the University of London. Both are united by their love of chamber music and their openness to new arrangements.
With classical works by Ludwig van Beethoven, Johannes Brahms, Robert Schumann, but also contemporary pieces by Mark Simpson and York Bowen, the two musicians completely captivated the audience. Some had tears in their eyes from emotion.
An extraordinary concert in an extraordinary exhibition that touched everyone.
